Our Story

Air Pak Freight Services was founded by Mahendra (Mahen) Bhagwan, a seasoned professional with decades of experience in the freight and airline industry, including a long-standing career with Air Pacific, now known as Fiji Airways. Inspired by a deep connection to the Fijian community in Brisbane, Mahendra set out with a mission: to create a reliable, community-focused freight service that would help local businesses access essential materials both to and from the Pacific and empower families to support loved ones back home in Fiji.

What began as a grassroots initiative has grown steadily over the past 42 years into one of Australia's most trusted freight forwarding providers. Air Pak Freight Services is a regulated agent under the Australian Government’s Department of Infrastructure and Transport with a strong network of agents across Oceania and Asia, allowing us to provide seamless, efficient service to and from a wide range of destinations across the world.

Specialising in both sea and air freight, Air Pak Freight Services facilitates logistics to the Pacific Islands with a personal touch. In addition to our commercial freight services, we are known for our excess baggage service from Brisbane to the Pacific Islands—an offering that has made Air Pak a household name among the Fijian community in Australia.

As part of our end-to-end logistics solutions, Air Pak Freight Services ensures all shipments comply with Australian and international customs regulations, customs clearance requirements, and biosecurity protocols. Our experienced team manages customs declarations, quarantine requirements, and documentation to guarantee smooth clearance, helping customers avoid delays and ensure goods are delivered safely and legally.

Our Team – Hamilton Head Office

Melita - Operations Manager

Our operations manager, Melita, is someone most of our clients will get to know on a first name basis – for all the best of reasons. She leads and manages our freight forwarding operations from our head office in Hamilton. From coordinating air and sea freight shipments to managing manifest, dispatch, and scheduling, she ensures every consignment is handled efficiently and in full compliance with regulations. With hands-on experience and strong logistical expertise, she is the driving force behind the smooth and timely movement of cargo.

Sasha - Imports, Customs and Quarantine Facilitation

Responsible for overseeing all imports into Australia, Sasha manages the end-to-end process of inbound freight, with decades of experience in the industry. From coordinating with overseas agents to ensuring compliance with Australian Customs and biosecurity regulations, she handle all documentation, declarations, and official relations. Her expertise ensures that imported goods arrive safely, legally, and without unnecessary delay.

Aeron - Executive Assistant

Supporting the director, Aeron keeps Air Pak Freight Services running smoothly behind the scenes. Managing the affairs of business to coordinating key initiatives, he brings structure, efficiency, and professionalism to everything he touches.
